Jazz Up your Post It Notes.....

Here's a quick way to brighten up someone day. Make a little cover for a post it notepad with space at the top for a little gel pen.

Toppers from Pollycraft Designs
If anyone would like instructions and template of how to make one of these please : check out Julie's Paper Pleasing blog for a wonderful tutorial

What girl doesn't love bags?????

Is it just me or do all girls love handbags and shoes? That's my downfall next to craft goodies. So why not combine the two- bags and crafting?

Here's a couple of little gift bag type handbags. Sorry about the photos - had to scan them, digital camera seems to have packed up on me. Inside the bag is a folded pocket - you can even pop money or a little gift card securely inside.

Can you guess where I got the floral paper above?
It's amazing the different types of things you can find to craft with.
Next time your in your local DIY shop - check out the wallpaper section and help yourself to some lovely samples. They come in great for crafting!

Weekend makes ....

Hubby was working night shift this weekend, so unfortunately (yeah, right) I had to abandon the housework as to not waken him up. No problem - just get all the craft stuff out! hahah

Thing was - I still had to keep the kids entetained as well. So while the kids set about making gift bags for their teacher for the end of term, I got stuck into making some cards.

I'll try and show the kids' gift bags later - not sure when the mounds of glitter glue will ever be dry! LOL

This one is for a friend.
The top ribbon has a peel off on it with "Just to Say" and the gorgeous die cut bear is froman Ebay seller by the name of Teeniesmum. She makes the most gorgeous bears I have ever see and when she has a listing of them, I try to make sure I can snap some up for my stash.

This is little card for my special friend Janet's grand-daughter,
Anna who's turning 6yrs old.
She is a gorgeous little girl who never fails to brighten her gran's day
and mine with her lovely smile.
I have used a Pollycraft topper (surprised?) & a few wee bits from my stash.
Janet is a very special lady. She is bravely fighting lymphoma cancer and her husband Jeff, has also recently had a brush with cancer. I checking on them every day via the Hopper's Faith Love and Hope blog. Janet is never without a smile and never fails to amaze me with her determination, faith and selflessness in thinking of others.
Janet you are an inspiration to me and I think of you often.
Gentle hugs

As promised here are some photos from our wee jaunt (5km) at the Race for Life. It was a brilliant day out and was made even more special by the fact me and Cali were joined by our good friends Pam & Kiera. Thanks girls

Quick Get Well Card

I don't know about any of the rest of yo but my kids have a tendency to "need" a cards at the last minute or the most awkward of times. Late last night, just before bed, Cali, DD states that she "promised" a girl in her class she would make a Get Well Soon card for her the next day because she has broken her arm.

How sweet and thoughtful I hear you cry - but who has to make it!!!!

So early this busy sunny morning, lol - Cali and I got to work on a card. She delegated and I made it.

Swap anyone.......

Being part of forums has allowed me to make so many new friends and be inspired by their creations that they share. What better way yo do that , than take part in swaps ?

Many of you know by now, that I'm a huge fan of using Pollycraft designs on my cards and I'm pretty sure that many of you feels that same as me, so here's what I propose:

CARD SWAP with Pollycraft Designs

  • sign ups (names) will be taken until the end of June

  • you have to make one card of a particular theme (birthday, birth, thank you etc) using a Pollycraft design

  • send card out by end of July

For anyone who hasn't taken part in a swap before here's what happens:

I get all the names, email addresses & snail mail addresses of those keen to take part.
You will then (at the end of sign up) receive an email from me, with details of the person you have to send a card to (name and address), and the theme the card should be .
You then have to the end of July to make and send one card to your assigned person in the swap.

Then the best bit: we all stake the postie during July to wait for our card to arrive and then share our fabulous cards back on the forum.

How does that sound? Any questions? Interested yet? email me or scoot across to : http://www.freewebs.com/pollycraft/forum.htm

See you all there!

POLLYCRAFT challenge

Paula, from Pollycraft is running her first challenge over on her blog, Tales from Pollycraft, with a fantastic prize of £10 to spend in her shop.

All you have to do is design a card with 2 different Pollycraft designs to make a mixed up card.

Here's my entry - not bad for my first challenge either.

I used the butterfly from "Lily Springtime Wired", the bear and flowers is from " Biscuits & Sugar Bear flowers for Mum and the backing paper and paper ribbon is from the free mortimer kit. The celebrate topper is also from a freebie from Paula back in the old days of downloads being allowed on Ebay.
I hope you like it Paula and wish you every success in your challenge. Come on ladies - hot-foot it over there now and get you designs entered.

Race for Life - 2008

WE DID IT!!!

What a fantastic day. We (me, Cali, Pam & Kiera) completed the 5km in just over an hour. It was a great experience that I'll never forget and am so happy to have taken part. It will definitely be on my list of "To Do's" for next year.

I'll be adding photos to this post a little later. My camera died on me so when I get copies from Pam - they'll be here for all to see.

I really enjoyed and was inspired by the messages on the other ladies and girls back, as to who they were running the race for. Some had family members and friends, some were for all effected by cancer but each had a special meaning to each runner. Mine simply said:

I ran the race of life for family, friends, strangers and future generations. xx

Thanks to all of you who donated, you made it a special day for me!

Happy Father's Day

I know I'm running a day late but yesterday was such a busy day (tell you about that in the next post)!

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY - Dad, I love you heaps and Graham (hubby and father of my kiddiwinks), next to my dad, your the best, LOL!

Conor, and me spent most of Saturday night finishing cards off for Father's Day. I was so proud of my wee man, who cut out nearly all of his decoupage bits himself and assembled them himself. Not bad for a 5yrs old.

Here's his finished creations, with just a ickle help from his mum:

Didi you know?.......this good to know

I received the following information in an email today, an thought it was well worth a mention:

ATM - PIN Number Reversal - Good to Know

If you should ever be forced by a robber to withdraw money from an ATM machine, you can notify the police by entering your PIN # in reverse.
For example, if your pin number is 1234, then you would put in 4321. The ATM system recognizes that your PIN number is backwards from the ATM card you placed in the machine.
The machine will still give you the money you requested, but unknown to the robber, the police will be immediately dispatched to the location.
This information was recently broadcasted on CTV by Crime Stoppers however it is seldom used because people just don't know about it.

Please pass this along to everyone.

OH Baby......

A good friend and work colleague, recent gave birth to a wee baby boy. I haven't been able to visit her yet as I'm sure she has her hands full and has had more than plenty visitors for the time being.

I've been out buying a few wee bits and bobs for him and can't wait for a hold. Hope to visit soon or I'll never be able to carry him, since he's up to 11lbs already. He's feeding every 2 hrs!

OH how I don't miss the night feeds and dirty nappies.

Here's the card I made to go with his present - what do you think?

Think I'll make a tag of the same design for his present. TTFN x

Race for Life....Thanks

I'd like to thank everyone who has sponsored me online and the old fashioned way, LOL !
Also many thanks to Paula and Emma, who have kindly displayed my widget on their blogs. These are two wonderful ladies, who don't know me from Eve (I don't wear fig leaves, tho), but have offered their support to help me reach my target.

If I can make a little difference in my lifetime to help raise some money for Cancer research, then who knows, it might just help future generations in the cure for cancer.

If anyone wants to see me plead some more....... you can visit my online sponsor page

http://www.raceforlifesponsorme.org/traceyroberts1

BTW.....I have bought fairy wings to wear, lovely glittery pink ones. Better get some training in, off round the loch with the furbaby!

Fathers Day.....

Well, it will soon be Father's Day , so I thought'd I better get a wriggle on and come up with something for the kids to give to their Dad. Although it has been made easy for me again by Paula at Polly Craft Designs.

I really like the Truffles Father's Day images, especially since they come in 2 different colours. This is what I've come up with, so now I'd better go make another in the green for my own Dad.

Pages Swap.......

I recently hosted a Pages Swap on the PC Crafters forum. We each had to make 2 - 6x6 pages to send to another person. The pages had to include a saying about friendships. It lasted for 4 months and each month we sent out to 3 people.

I had a fantastic time doing this swap, and learned lots of new crafting bits and pieces from others work.

I have now ended up with a beautiful book, filled with wonderful handcrafted pages. Its a little book filled with love and something I will treasure for many years to come. I'm sure I'll spend a lot of time gazing through it when I'm blue - it'll cheer me up no end.

Thanks you very much ladies - I love each and everyone of you.

UPDATE - Race for Life

My best buddy Pamela and her daughter Kiera are taking part in the Race for Life with us, woohooo!

Now - did I mention they'd have to wear fairy wings, lol! I don't envy Pam, she has a wedding the night before.

I think it should be a fantastic day with a wonderful atmosphere. Females of all ages taking part to do a little something for Cancer Research.

THANKS Pam and Keira (sorry I didn't mention you earlier!)
